Information

Coach & Manager

Your child’s team will require a coach and manager in order to take the court.  We rely on parents/friends, etc. to volunteer for these roles.

The coach will run the training sessions and support/advise the team on game day.  Managers have the task of communicating with the team and advising of any changes that may arise.

Training

All teams are expected to attend a training session with their coach once a week.  You will be notified of your teams training venue, day and time by your manager.  Please communicate with them if your child cannot attend training, for whatever reason.  Your coach will have equipment for training, but should your child wish to bring their own ball, they are more than welcome.  Please note the ball sizes below.

Training is compulsory, it is where all the learning and team bonding happens. Your coach volunteers their time and your team requires you to be there. The club also pays for the venue so please attend.

Parents must monitor and be responsible for their child’s behaviour at training and games.

- Coaches are instructed to remove your child from the session if they are disruptive or inattentive.

- Best behaviour and effort is expected at training and games from players, parents and supporters.

- If your child can’t make a game or training session then be considerate and let the Manager know ASAP.

Equipment

Pumas will provide the nominated coach with a training kit for the season.  The kit consists of basketballs, ball pump and agility cones or shooting spots.  The kit will be issued at the start of the season and needs to be returned thereafter.  The coach is responsible for all equipment provided.  Any missing or damaged equipment will be billed for.  Our equipment coordinator can be contacted by clicking here

Games

Game days are generally held on a Saturday but can be Friday or Monday evenings, depending on your age group. Game day information is available on PlayHQ.  Fixtures are allocated by WBA and may be subject to change without notice. Your manager will confirm venue, date and time before the game is due to take place.  Please communicate with them in advance if you know your child cannot attend the game.

Parents are required to take turns in scoring.  Your manager will set up a roster and advise you when this will occur.

Please make sure that your child is in their Pumas uniform with yellow shirts worn facing out.  Yellow is the club’s colour and must be worn every week.  Green is only to be worn if there is a clash, i.e., playing against another Pumas team.

Venues

Pumas train at a number of venues over the course of the week, namely: Wanneroo Recreational Centre, HBF Arena, Heathridge Community Centre, Craigie Leisure Centre, Sacred Heart College, St Marks School, Mater Dei College, St Marks Anglican School, Ocean Reef SHS, St Stephen School (Carramar Campus) and Edith Cowan University.

Games are generally played at HBF Arena, but also at the following venues:  Irene McCormack Catholic College, Peter Moyes Anglican School, Craigie Leisure Centre and Mater Dei College.

Pumas players, parents and spectators are required to abide by the venues rules.  Should you fail to do so, you will be asked to leave.

Trophies

Trophies are issued after each season.  All registered players for U8 and U10 will receive a participation trophy.  All teams from U12 to U18 are encouraged to nominate a player for the following awards - Most Valued Player (MVP), Runner up MVP and a Coaches award.

We also provide trophies to those players that have achieved certain milestones.  We recognise our Pumas referees with an award too.

Wind Up Celebration

After each season we have a celebratory wind up.  All players are invited and encouraged to attend.  The club President welcomes everyone and provides an update on the season completed, as well as hands out the trophies/awards.
